Dog Portraits

Commission a Dog Portrait – Honouring the presence of your beloved companion

In February 2025, I said goodbye to my 14-year-old dog.

When I finally gathered the courage to paint her, I didn’t want to simply recreate a photograph. I wanted to feel her again. So I connected with her energetically and allowed her energy to guide my brush.

The result was more than a likeness — it was her presence. Every time I look at that painting, I feel her spirit and warmth.

As an energy therapist, I work regularly with subtle connection and intuition. I bring that same grounded presence into each portrait I create.

Therefore, these are not just paintings of dogs. They are portraits of relationship, memory and love.

Remembering Those Gorgeous Souls

This is the portrait of Toffee, my little furry angel.

I know first-hand how painful it is when the house feels quieter, when their footsteps are no longer there, when you reach out and they are not beside you. You miss how they used to look at you, comfort you, you miss their unwavering, unconditional love…

And sometimes, having something tangible — something that carries their essence — brings comfort in a way photographs cannot.

I have countless photos of her around the house… but the feeling I get when my eyes land on this acrylic painting is completely different. It makes me smile. It feels so real, like she can leap off the canvas at any moment.

Who These Portraits Are For

For those who:

• Want more than a photo
• Want to honour a beloved companion
• Want to celebrate a dog who is still very much here
• Want to remember one who has passed.

Celebrating Dogs Who Are With Us

I have been thinking for a long time that I would like a picture of our dogs. There are so many options: photographs, canvas prints from photos, etc. But none of them felt right. My sister paints, so recently I asked her if she would make a canvas portrait of them. And yes, that turned out to be the perfect solution. The paintings are beautful. They look exactly like my dogs. I can hardly wait to receive the artworks and hang them on the wall.

Szilvi, Mum of two gorgeous boys and two wonderful dogs

When the portrait comes to life.

Each portrait begins with connection and unfolds layer by layer — here is a glimpse into the process.

I loved painting this beautiful Border Collie. At first, I was a little intimidated by the idea of painting “Black and White.” Because they are never really just these two colours.

There are layers, shadows, reflections and subtle shifts in tone that most people don’t even notice.

The “Black” is actually deep Blues, soft Browns, hints of Violet.

The “White” holds mixes of Burnt Umber, Ultramarine, Raw Sienna, Light Blue, Naples Yellow and Titanium White, depending on the light. That’s the magic and the challenge.

And once those layers started coming together, the intimidation disappeared and was replaced by pure joy. Especially when the dog mum got so excited, seeing and recognising her adorable boy on the canvas. That’s the best moment.

If this resonates with you, I invite you to get in touch.

Send a message with a photo of your dog and a few words about them, and we can begin the process.
